ADVANTAGES AND DISVANTAGES FOR USE CARBON FIBER

                                                                       ADVANTAGES

 1. Lightweight, carbon fiber is a low-density material with a very high to weight ratio.

2. High tensile strenght, one of the strongest of all comercial reinforcing fibers when it comes to tension, carbon fiber is very difficult to stretch or bend.

3. Low thermal expansion, carbon fiber will expand or contract much less in hot or cold conditions than make materials like steel and aluminum.

4. Exceptional durability, carbon fiber has superior fatigue propeties compared to metal, wich means that carbon fiber components will not wear out as quickly under the stress of costant use.

5. Electrical conductivity, carbon fiber composites are an excellent conductor of electricity

                                                                       DISADVANTAGES

1. Carbon fiber cracks or breaks when it is compressed, pushed beyond its strength capabilities, or exposed to high impact. It will crack if hit by a hammer. Machining and holes can also create weak areas that can increase your chance of breaking.

2. Relative cost, carbon fiber is a high quality material with a price to match. Although prices have fallen significantly in the last five years, demmand has not increased enought to substantially increase supply. As a result, prices will likely remain the same for the foreseeable future.

3. Insane, the main health hazards are generated duringthe handling of carbon fibers. Carbon fibers are easily broken by stretching -less than 2% elongation-; the fibers can easily turn into dust that can be released into surrounding atmosphere.

4. Most fibers has an outer layer of exposy resin wich also causes  chemical irritation. Many of the solvents used in the processes are volatile, famamable and irritating to the skin and eyes.

5. After curing, the fiber becomes very rigid and if it splinters, it can fill our skin with splinters, causing wounds and, in the worst case, dermatitis.

  1. I think that the low thermal expansion of carbon fibre will make it expand or contract much less in hot or cold conditions than make materials like steel and aluminium and that must be an essential requirement to the new materials that are created.

NEWS OF THE FIBER CARBON

FRENCH COMPANY DEVELOPS CARBON RECYCLING SOLUTION Extracthive  works on thr industralization of the recycling of composite materials, mainly carbon fiber. Mehdi Mahmoundi proyect manager for the technology called Phyre, tell us more about the method ans the applications that could be of interest to the marine industry. Extracthive was created in 2015 as a spin-off of a French Atomic Energy Commision (CEA) project.       Its main activity is the development of innovative and tailored processes for the recycling of industrial waste. Buildings on existing technologies or through new solutions, he gets  the method off the ground in the lab and then helps his client move to industrial scale, either through existing recycling channels or by identifying the players needed to create a new recycling circuit. "In 2019,we acquired a subsidiary specializing in the recycling of abrasives  and ceramics, based in the Vaucluse. The idea is to recycle, separate a...
