FRENCH COMPANY DEVELOPS CARBON RECYCLING SOLUTION
Extracthive works on thr industralization of the recycling of composite materials, mainly carbon fiber. Mehdi Mahmoundi proyect manager for the technology called Phyre, tell us more about the method ans the applications that could be of interest to the marine industry.
Extracthive was created in 2015 as a spin-off of a French Atomic Energy Commision (CEA) project. Its main activity is the development of innovative and tailored processes for the recycling of industrial waste. Buildings on existing technologies or through new solutions, he gets the method off the ground in the lab and then helps his client move to industrial scale, either through existing recycling channels or by identifying the players needed to create a new recycling circuit.

"In 2019,we acquired a subsidiary specializing in the recycling of abrasives and ceramics, based in the Vaucluse. The idea is to recycle, separate and reincorporate materials. This has led to the emergence of a cluster around special materials including coals" explains Mehdi Mahmoudi, project manager at Extrcthive.

Carbon work at Extracthive began in 2016 for internal purposes, but was quickly identified as a future market. "There is al lot of CO2 generation. For a kilo of virgin fiber, we emit 40 kg of CO2 France is Europe´s leading consumer and demand is greater than supply. It seems to us a very innovative idea to combine recycling with carbon fibers since they could be a very good way to achieve less pollution and emissions for the planet since they in turn recycle previous structures so that this can be carried out.

In my opinion, carbon fibers recycling is a very significant invention because it helps us to reduce our emmissions, and also it is a good idea because if you recycle carbon fibers you don't have to produce new ones, so you save materials and energy.

Good news. We must become more aware of all the damage we do to the environment only for our own interest I consider that apart from having various solutions a monetary punishment should be imposed on countries like France so that they pay attention.
